So, the shortlist for the British Comic Awards were announced last week and very exciting it was to see Dredd: Trifecta nominated for ‘Best Book’. Big ups to fellow Trifecta creators Si Spurrier, Al Ewing, Henry Flint, D’israeli, Si Coleby and Carl Critchlow, plus Chris Blythe on colours for Dredd and our letterers Annie Parkhouse, Simon Bowland and Ellie De Ville. Plus editorial. And PR. Lordy, how many of us will be up on stage if we actually win?
The awards ceremony will be held at the excellent Thought Bubble convention in Leeds, in November, which I’ll be attending. (incidentally, it looks like I’ll be on a couple of panels there with potentially an exciting announcement, but I’ll say more on that when I can). Thought Bubble has a fantastic lineup this year. Recommended.
Trifecta – which can be bought here and direct from the 2000AD website – is up against some tough competition. Personally, I read Glyn Dillon’s The Nao Of Brown and though it brilliant. Still, fingers crossed.
Oh, and the RM Guera-drawn Dredd ‘The Man Comes Around’ is still on the way. Currently looking at a January release, we think. Here’s a page from it in both B&W and colour version (colours by Guera’s regular collaborator Giulia Brusco).
